Open data is certainly not limited to Australia. Local governments from around the world are publishing open data in increasing numbers. While international research is largely beyond the scope of this project, we have provided just a glimpse of some of the developments in the UK, US and New Zealand for broader context.
USA
A large number of municipalities have embraced open data with some cities, like Los Angeles, issuing Executive Orders mandating open data. Other examples include:
- San Francisco’s DataSF and Open Book.
- New York City, which has an Open Data Tumblr
- Philadelphia with its Open Data Guidebook
